5 Year Review : Areas of Assessment
Introduction
The review group
will visit us over the weekend of November 9 - 11. They
will meet with members of the community, the Reef
groups, staff and the minister. Details of times will be
sent on soon. To prepare them I will write a report
based on the following five areas, chosen by the NCD
committee.
We have discussed these already at Pencaitland in May and I will
use those comments. However, I am keen for you to make
any new comments you wish and I will add them into the
final report. That report needs to be sent in by October
12th, I will take a week to write it so you
have until the end of September to make your views
known!
You can:
►Develop a discussion on the message boards
►Meet me for a chat
►E-mail me any thoughts >
God bless,
Paul.

Cross Edinburgh Church Cycle
Did you know there are 79 Church of Scotland churches in Edinburgh?
On Saturday June 2nd, 3 groups of intrepid cyclists set off with the aim to get a picture of each of these churches, by
cycling between them and raising money to support Cross Sports 2007. Between the 3 groups they covered 82 miles and visited all
79 churches!!
It was an amazing experience to visit all of these churches and see the diverse range of places of worship we have in Edinbugh.
I think all of those who took part had a tremendous day and we raised over
£300 for Cross Sports!

May 2007 Report - Church Away Day
Click here to read Paul's full report.....find out why we are like bumble bees, rats, spiders, ants etc etc

In response to the plea from
"Connecting Scotland"
for local Christians to join together to prayer-walk
our land, the Big Idea churches have agreed to set aside
the evening of Wednesday 16th May
to do some prayer
walking in South and East Edinburgh. The plan is for
everybody to meet at Liberton Kirk at 7pm for a short
time of worship. We will then get back into our cars and
head off to do some prayer walking in our own areas,
before returning after a couple of hours for a cup of
tea. Maps and sample prayers will be provided, and those
who are not up to walking themselves will be able to
pray in the church.
Wednesday 16th May
7pm : Joint worship at Liberton Kirk
7.15pm : Disperse to prayer-walk in our own areas
9.15pm : Tea / Coffee back at Liberton Kirk
9.30pm : Sharing and Closing Worship

Staff Day - March 12th 2007
"Preparing To Go Public"
"Preparing
to go public" was one of the conclusions from our recent staff day.
Led by Peter we reflected on the three areas of
growth in Gilmerton Church -
the arts, sport and parenting. Recognising that after 4 years we have worked hard under the surface, building relationships and trust meaning we are now ready
to be more public in the events we run. This will be fully discussed at our annual whole church day or weekend conference.
The proposed date for that is May 19th but will be confirmed by the end of March.
What is it about the tree?
This has been our visual reminder of what we are about as a church.
The roots represent how we have been
nourished by God in the past, all coming from a variety of sources.
The trunk is our common life together -
the Reef groups - while the
branches are us
growing and reaching out.
You might also see an apple, hoped for fruit in these areas.
The BEST Treasure Hunt photo - March 11th 2007
